On 02 March, 2012 in Dnipropetrovsk a meeting of the Regional Coordination Council was held, which summed up the results of 8 months of implementation of the EU/UNDP Project "Community Based Approach to Local Development". Also four rayons were presented for implementation of the CBA-II Project methodology replication.
39 communities from 9 rayons of of Dnipropetrovsk region participate in the EU/UNDP Project CBA-II. Currently, communities have completed the planning of their activities on improvement of socio-economic situation, and developed measures of cooperation between the government authorities and communities for support and maintenance of implemented objects. Community plans have been included into plans of socio-economic development at the level of rural/village and rayon councils. Currently, 10 micro-projects that had been approved in 2011, received the first tranche of the EU/UNDP Project CBA-II, and have been completing the work. In February three micro-projects were prepared and approved at the meeting of the Local Development Forums.
"The main thing for us is, - said Yevgen Udod, the Head of the Regional Council, - that people are aware of the possibility of solving large-scale problems involving grant funds from international organizations."
Local councils and COs of the territories where the Project is implemented, has already started work on preparation, development and implementation of micro-project proposals.
Co-financing the second phase of the Project is carried out in the frame the Programme of Development of the local self-governance, adopted by the Regional. The first 10 micro-projects under the conditions of co-financing received in 2011 from the regional budget 617,5 thousand UAH. For 2012 it was planned and already allocated from the regional budget 1 million UAH for 9 rayons and 400 thousand UAH for 4 replication rayons. Approximately the same amount – 1,4 million UAH was planned by the local councils to allocate from their local budget for implementation of micro-projects”, said Yevgen Udod.
The results of the competitive selection of rayons which would implement the EU/UNDP Project CBA-II on methodology replication have been announced to representatives of the Coordination Council. 6 applications have been submitted to this competition from Dnipropetrovsk region. The winners became: Kryvorizky, Petrykivsky, Pokrovsky, Tsarychansky rayons. From 12 to 16 March 2012 seminars-presentations of the EU/UNDP Project "Community Based Approach to Local Development – II" will be held in these rayons.
