On 17 July 2012 new component of energy efficiency and renewable energy and competition for the selection of rayons willing to participate in this component (within CBA project) were announced at the session of the Regional Coordinating Council of Lokhvytsya village. The new direction aims to support innovative ideas of communities in the field of energy-efficient technologies.

The meeting of the regional committee for selection of rayons willing to participate at the project component on energy saving innovations was conducted on August 22, 2012. 6 rayons out of 25 submitted proposals to participate at the mentioned component, namely Poltavskiy, Chutovsky, Hadiachsky, Semyonovsky, Lohvitsky, Kremenchutsky.

The members  of the regional commission were: Helen E. Adamovich, deputy head of the regional administration, Vladimir Marchenko, deputy head of the regional council; Orlov Dmitry V., Head of External Relations and Foreign Economic Administration, Project Coordinator in Poltava region. From CBA Project in the commission took part: Dr. Jaysingh Sah - International Project Manager, Oksana Remiga - Programme Manager of UNDP, Helen Rudich - Community Development Specialist and Vitalina Starchyk, Galina Booth, Community Development Coordinators in Poltava Oblast.

The Evaluation Committee members have carefully studied the applications and analyzed them according to the UNDP methodology. The competition was attended by six regions of Poltava oblast. After a competitive selection procedures, financial support will be given to 6 communities in 3 rayons. The priority will be given to the use of local and renewable energy sources. As a result, 3 rayons received aproval: Hadiachsky, Lohvitsky and Semenovsky.

September 10, 2012 is the deadline for applications from communities that are willing and able to take part in the realization of this project in collaboration with the CBA-II. Community of Poltava region will receive additional funding in the amount of 120 thousand dollars in a new energy efficiency component. But the main task is to create enabling environment for long-term socio-economic development at the local level through development of local self-governance and support initiatives aimed at community development at Poltava.
