On 11 October 2013, a special on-site session of Coordination Council on implementation of CBA-II Project in Donetska oblast was held in Mnohopillya village of Amvrosiivsky rayon. The aim of the meeting was to overview the results of piloting microprojects, aimed to boost agricultural development of rural areas in the region. To that end, heads of 18 rayon councils were exposed to experience of ‘Miy Dobrobut’ agro-service cooperative, one of 2 piloting cooperatives, established with support of CBA-2 in Donetska oblast. Ms. Alessandra Tisot, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine, participated in the field meeting.
In Mnohopillya village, as well as in many other villages of Donetska oblast, economy is based on mainly agricultural activities involving up to more than 90% of the total households including animal breeding, dairy, poultry, vegetables and fruits. Key issues facing the village are low level of knowledge among householders, lack of modern agricultural technology, remoteness from markets, lack of marketing and technical information and lack of jobs.
