The idea of a new project launched by the Kherson Regional State Administration under the name "The Territory of the future" was presented this week on conference. The main objective of this initiative - to create long-term plans of the territories within the joint efforts of government, business and civil society that would combine strategic vision, local uniqueness, specific competitive advantages and economic incentives to implement plan (with the support of local producers and investment attraction).

January – February, 2012 – continuation of training program for representatives of community organizations, village councils and drayon administrations/ rayon councils. Series of trainings on "Implementation of Micro community organizations", "Preparing and conducting joint assessment" organized and conducted.

On January 26, 2012 the activities implemented in 2011 druing the second phase of the European Union and UNDP joint project CBA-II were summarized at the visiting session of the Regional Coordination Council in Hornostayivskiy rayon of Kherson region. The event was held with the participation of the oblast authorities and 9 rayons authorities participants of the project.

November 23, 2011 the First Deputy Head of the regional administration Vyacheslav Biliy with Vice Chairman of Regional State Administration Anatoliy Khomenko and Michael Melnyk conducted a meeting with the heads of regional state administrations and mayors. One of the issues proposed for consideration was to analyze the status of the CBA joint EU/UNDP Project in Kherson region.

On August 16, 2011 the list of rayons of Kherson region which will cooperate with the EU-UNDP project CBA - II for over the next 4 years was approved. As a result of the Commission decision on selecting of 8 rayons for participation at the project: Novovorontsovsky, Nyzhniosirohozky, Gornostayivsky, Velykooleksandrivsky, Beryslavsky, Novotroitsky, Golopristansky, Verkhniorogachynsky. Two more rayons are included into reserve: Chaplinsky and Kalanchatsky.

Kherson region officially started to implement the second phase of a joint EU-UNDP project "Community Based Approach to Local Development", aimed at supporting rural communities in addressing critical needs in their development and improvement of living conditions. On July 14, 2011 an introductory seminar-presentation was held at in the Regional State Administration, during which the previous three years of the project were summarized and the action plan for future tasks developed. The event was attended by Chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration M. Kostyak and his deputies, the head of the regional council V. Peliyh, management of  18 rayons of Kherson region. During the regional presentation the Partnership Agreement between Regional State Administration, Regional Council and the UN Development Program also was signed and the beginning of the competitive selection of rayons which will participate in the Project announced. All the rayons were able to apply for participation in the project during two weeks.
