23-24 August, 2012 Mr. Olivier Adam UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative paid a working visit to Zakarpattia region. The aim of his visit was to get acquainted with the results of the partnership with regional authorities and joint implementation of the EU/UNDP Project “Community Based Approach to Local Development”. On 23 August, 2012 Mr. Olivier Adam took part in the meeting of the Regional Coordination Council of the joint EU/UNDP Project "Community Based Approach to Local Development - II", where each of 8 pilot rayons reported on results of their work in community development and improvement of their living conditions in the frame of joint implementation of the Project. 

On July 12, 2011 in Uzhgorod it was solemnly announwced about the launch of the second phase of the EU/UNDP CBA Project in the Zakarpattia oblast. The regional orkshop was held with the participation of the OSA Head Mr. Ledydy Olexander, Head of the Oblast Council Mr. Ivan Baloga, Assistant Resident Representative (Programme) Mr. Berdi Berdiyev, heads of oblast regions and departments of state administration, representatives of regional media and NGOs. Participants of the regional workshop discussed the results of the first phase of the project implemented in 2008-2010 and developed to support rural communities in solving the critical issues and aimed to improve living conditions.  Although, the prospects for the future were outlined, special attention was paid to the possibility of using of alternative kinds of energy in the region.
