Signing of the Partnership Agreement at the regional seminar

Poltava region launched the second phase of the European Union and UNDP joint project "Community Based Approach to Local Development CBA" – II, aimed at supporting rural communities in addressing critical needs of their development and improvement of living conditions. 

At a regional seminar-presentation held on July 11, 2011 at Poltava session hall of the regional council, the following participants were present: Chairman of Poltava oblast Udovichenko Alexander, Head of the Poltava Regional Council Momot Ivan, International Project Manager CBA Jaysingh Sah, Community Development Specialist Helen L. Rudich, Project Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of the Department of cooperation with the Parliament and the Cabinet Secretariat regions - Matiychyk Tanya, Deputy Head Helen E. Adamovich, Deputy Head of the regional council, Project Coordinator of the council Marchenko Vladimir, head of the Foreign Relations and Foreign Economic Administration, Project Coordinator of Administration, Chairman of twenty five district councils and administrations, rayon coordinators of regional resource centers, heads of village, town and city councils, representatives of departments, divisions administration departments, rectors of the leading universities of Poltava, media representatives and other interested parties.

The workshop presented an action plan to implement the project in the region. Special attention was paid to the explanation of the approach which is the basis of the project on "development-oriented to community." The project will have a budget of 17.1 million euros, of which 98.4% - EU contribution, 1.6% - contribution of UNDP. The project duration is 4 years and will operate on the territory of Ukraine and Crimea.

Coordinator of state administration Dmitry Orlov made his presentation on successes and achievements of the first phase of the project at the seminar. His successful experience in project implementation in Semenov rayon also shared Head of  Semyonov rayon adinstration Valery Knish and Head of the NGO "Foundation for the promotion of the educational process in the Semenov SPC number 2" Lyudmila Kravtsova.

During the event, the start of the competitive selection of rayons to participate in the second phase of the project was announced. Rayons will be able to apply during two weeks.
