In Zakarpattia started the new stage of cooperation with the CBA ProjectOn July 12, 2011 in Uzhgorod it was solemnly announced about the launch of the second phase of the EU/UNDP CBA Project in the Zakarpattia oblast.
Regional Workshop was held with the participation of the OSA Head Mr. Ledydy Olexander, Head of the Oblast Council Mr. Ivan Baloga, Assistant Resident Representative (Programme) Mr. Berdi Berdiyev, heads of oblast regions and departments of state administration, representatives of regional media and NGOs.During the meeting the Head of the Zakarpattia OSA Mr. Oleksandr Ledyda noted that the project is 'an important step in solving the urgent problems of the oblast. The project opened new opportunities for our communitiesand development of the whole region. Zakarpattians showed their initiative and activeness, and those who worked hard obtained significant results. We are ready to provide the comprehensive assistance to the Phase II to double its results'.
The Head of the Oblast Council Mr. Ivan Baloga noted that the oblast will continue its activity as a partner of all initiative communities -participants of the CBA project. We have renovated schools, kindergartens, medical points. The next stage envisaged to invest in modern energy-saving technology, which is very important for Zakarpattia - said Mr. Baloga. - We are ready for further cooperation, which will promote the sustainable development of local communities, the active involvement of the population in solving of specific problems, teaching of the responsibility for fulfilling the tasks, targeting themselves for the end result - namely, to provide with European standards of living conditions to our oblast inhabitants.
The Assistant Resident Representative (Programme) Mr. Berdi Berdiyev pointed the high performance of Zakarpattia during first stage. There were implemented 61 micro-projects in the oblast in various spheres of life - and this is the one of the best results in Ukraine. It is important that communities themselves choose their priorities.
Although, it is very important that through due to our cooperation an effective dialogue between communities, authorities and representatives of the Project was established . The results of the first phase of the CBA project were presented to the participants by Mr. Terelya, the Deputy Head of the Main Department of Agricultural Development of Zakarpattia OSA, project focal point from Zakarpattia OSA. The First Deputy of Svalyava OSA Mr. Koshelia told about how to achieve such results in the oblast and to establish the partnership with authorities, local self-governance for regional development and to improve quality of life. The "Success Story" of the community development of Vyshkovo of Hust region was presented by Mr. Kovach, the Head of the "Prometey" community.
This workshop was a competition between regions of the oblast to participate in the Project. They will be able to apply for participation in the Project till 22 July 2011, 6 pm.
