CBA Project Activities Launches in Vinnytsia Oblast

On 02 April 2008 Partnership Agreement between UNDP/CBA Project, Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration and Vinnytsia Oblast Council was officially signed in the premises of the Oblast State Administration in the framework of Community based approach to local development (CBA) Project implementation. PA was signed in the framework of Regional Seminar of CBA Project.

Regional Seminar in Vinnytsia launches the CBA Project implementation in the region, aimed at support of village/ towns communities in solving pressing problems of their development and improving their living conditions. Community Based Approach to Local Development (CBA) Project, its implementation strategy, modus operandi were presented at oblast level.

Special attention was paid to explaining community-based approach that presupposes participatory distinguishing of territory development priorities, participatory planning and measures realization for sustainable development of respective village/ settlement/ town.

During the second half of the seminar heads of rayon administrations had the possibility to learn about the CBA Project implementation on rayon level and terms of partnership with rayons. International project manager Jaysingh Sah made a call for application. 8 rayons will be selected for participation in the CBA Project. Rayons can apply for the next 3 weeks.

Communities of selected rayons will be able to elaborate initiatives for living conditions improvement; approved micro-projects will be funded by the CBA Project and local authorities. Potential communities-participants are villages, settlements, and towns with population up to 10 000 people.
