Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Ukraine, Ambassador Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira headed the delegation that included Ambassadors of Germany, Great Britain, Czech Republic, and Finland. European Union allocated about 12 mln. euro to implement the CBA Project in Ukraine, that is why it was especially interesting for the Ambassadors of European Union members to see the example of joint European funds use. The head of Leninska village council V.Medvedchuk welcomed the guests and speified that local authorities completely support creation and activities of community organizations on the territory f the village, so far as ‘united into community organizations villagers are mobilized, active, and responsible.’ Village head confirmed willingness to include CO priorities to plans of village development, and be a partner in their projects realization, and fund them. Representing his community, head of local organization Rustem Memedov pointed, that the greatest difficulty was to unite people and help them believe that only having united they can not only solve the problems of infrastructure, but also develop economically and culturally. The community decided to participate in the CBA Project in August 2008, registered on 23 September 2008 as a civil society organization. At the community board meeting its members discussed their problems and priorities, made the development plan, elected leaders, a cashier and a functional group. They determined the priority problem which is reconstruction of water supply system and elaborated corresponding project proposal, approved it at the Local Development Forum and at the meeting of Pre-Selection Committee in Kyiv. At present the community has received the major sum of funds from the CBA Project and the sum from the village council and used it for purchase of pipes, meters, and payment for doors substitution at the pumping station. |
