Volynska oblast is northeastern part of Ukraine. It borders with such regions as Rivne and Lviv, and also with Belarus on the north and Poland on the west. Volyn region territory occupies 3.3% of the total area of Ukraine with a population of about 1.04mln. About 52% of the region population lives in cities and towns.
Volynska oblast includes 16 rayons, 11 cities, 22 urban villages, 1,054 villages.
The largest cities and towns of the region are Lutsk, Kovel, Novovolynsk, Volodymyr-Volynskyi and Kivertsi.
Volynska oblast has developed industrial and agricultural sectors. Leading industries of the region are food producing, machinery, fuel, chemical and building materials industries. Agricultural sector specializes in animal meat and dairy, as well as in grain, sugar beets, vegetables and potatoes.
The EU/UNDP CBA Project Implementation in Volynska Oblast
Implementation of the first phase of the EU/UNDP CBA Project commenced in Volyn region during April 2008. First phase was succeeded by a second phase in July 2011. Over these two phases 72808 of men, women and children of the region have benefitted from improvement in 91 schools/kindergartens, 17 health posts, 2 water supply, 14 street-lightning and so on. This happened through joint effort of the citizens, oblast/rayon/local level governments, CBA Project and the private sponsors.
Third phase of the EU/UNDP CBA Project in Volynska oblast
Third phase of the EU/UNDP CBA Project was initiated in Volyn oblast with regional launching and signing of MoU which took place on September 30 2014. The oblast received a quota of 9 rayons for standard\replication components.
Rayons selected for the EU/UNDP CBA Project: Starovyzhivskyi, Liubeshivskyi, Horokhivskyi, Liubomylskyi, Kamin-Kashyrskyi, Manevytskyi, Rozhyshchenskyi, Kivertsivskyi, Lutskyi.
Microprojects approved as of 4 January 2016: 28 micro projects (2 – health, 18 – energy saving, and 8 – energy efficiency). Around 26,900 persons will benefit from implementation of these initiatives. Total budget for the initiatives is approx. UAH 8.8 mln (approx. USD 396,400). The EU/UNDP CBA Project will provide around UAH 6 mln (approx. USD 270,300).
