In the framework of the visit to the AR Crimea the delegation of European counterparts visited the community of Zvizdne Village (Krasnogvardiysky rayon, AR Crimea) to see the progress of local initiatives implementation in the framework of the CBA Project.

On 11 February 2009 at 10 a.m. in the premises of Volynska Oblast Council the meeting concerning funding of Volynska oblast communities micro-project proposals was held.

On Friday 20 February 2009 the Pre-Selection Committee of all-Ukrainian competititon UNDP Ukraine/BonAqua Every drop Matters discussed 181 applications from 20 oblasts, namely, Vinnytska, Ternopilska, Ivano-Frankivska, Luhanska, Zakarpatska, Rivnenska, Chernihivska, Mykolaivska, Kirovogradska, Volynska, Lvivska, Odeska, Cherkaska, Sumska, Khmelnytska, Zhytomyrska, Donetska, Zaporizka, Dnipropetrovska oblasts and Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

First meeting of regional Local Development Forum (LDF) aimed at discussing community projects funding principles and available community initiatives that need funds raising was held in Ivanivka in the framework of Community Based Approach to Local Development (CBA) Project on 20 February 2009.

First three Partnership Agreements of Rivnenska oblast community projects implementation were signed in Rivne State Administration on 19 February 2009 between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and rural communities – Velykomezhyritska community organisation  Nadiya(Energy conservation in village Velyki Mezhyrichi polyclinic of local hospital project), Koretska community organisation  Nadiya(Improvement of energy conservation conditions of Korets child school of arts project), Babynska community organisation  Promin (the Project Heat conservation of kindergarten Kazkovy svit in village Babyn, Goloshchansky rayon).

First grant agreement between UNDP and community organisation NadiyaVysokogo from village Vysokiy, Chernyakhivskiy rayon was signed in the CBA project community resource centre.

In January the team of Oblast Community Resource Centre visited communities of Pryamobalkivska, novoivanivska, and Ostrivnyanska VCs Arzyzky rayon, communities of Dmytrivska, Bannivska, and Gorodnenska VCs Bolgradsky rayon and informed their members about terms and conditions of participation in the Project.

From 11 to 12 December first Local Development Forums were held in the framework of Community Based Approach to Local Development (CBA) Project in Trostyanetsky, Okhtyrsky, and Lypovodolynsky rayons.

On 27 November training programme for attracted by the Project community organizations (CO) started in Odeska oblast. First two days of trainings for COs from Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky rayon were dedicated to the art of CO management and planning.

On 19-20 November regional training was held for 19 servants of rayon authorities of Mykolaivska, Khersonska, and Odeska oblasts. These servants are going to coordinate micro-projects implementation in pilot communities of corresponding rayons. Special training series were organized to inform them about підходом до залучення громади до процесів місцевого розвитку, specificity of its use and results it gives. Participants discussed the role and functions of rayon coordinators in the light of further ativities of the Project in the region.
